Welcome fellow players! I am going to start a new series: MCI Academy. In this series, I will explain my standpoint on a specific idea and what I think we should do about it. MCI Academy will also generally have some sort of a video/quote to have a theme/lesson. I was thinking about having quests again. However, most of the quests we had in 2.0 were, just lame.

In this entry, I will try to convince you about having repetitive vs unique quests
I have a video to explain why having quests that reward you for something you already do is bad design:

Description of video: Most quests are only devices used to funnel players to grinding, and only for rewards. Quests are better and more fun if they are unique and do new things that make you explore the mechanics of the game. A lot of quests just reward you with things you already do, which is very bad design. Quests should make you explore and think about the same situation in a different way.

My Proposition: Add back the Quest NPC to the lobby. However use this new GUI

Stay with me on this. The GUI would feature 4 books. Each book is a different tier of quest. Easy, Medium, Hard, Master Each book/tier can be clicked on, which opens another GUI with 3 paper.

Each paper is an individual quest. Each paper in the Easy tier would be an easy tier quest, and so on. I will now go on to say how choosing quests works.

Quests will not be like MCI 2.0, that were mediocre tasks that you did anyway that were always active. For a start you can only have 1 quest active at a time. Yes only 1 quest. Not 1 quest per tier, just 1 quest. You would actually have to go for a quest and it generally wouldn't just happen.

So, to start a quest you would click on the Quest Master NPC. It would then open the GUI with the quest tiers, you would then click on the desired tier. It will then open the next GUI with the 3 individual quests. You can then choose the desired quest. Once you start the quest, you have to either complete or trash that quest before you can start another one. If you trash a quest, you must wait 20 minutes before accepting another quest.

You can only do 1 quest per tier per day. This means you can do an Easy, Medium, Hard, and Master quest in the same day, but no more than 1 of each quest per day.

[Crowd Control] - Hit 3 different enemies without killing any of them until you hit 3 different enemies
[Lone Wolf] - Kill 3 enemies without having any other survivor within a 30 block radius of you
[En Garde] - Shoot an infected with an arrow then finish them off with a sword

[Mole] - Don't kill any infected until there is 1 minute left, then kill 4 or more infected in that minute
[Team work] - Get 2 or more scorestreak just from assists
[Encyclopedia] - Kill 4 different types of infected in one game

[Samurai] - Get 5 sword kills and 3 bow kills in one game
[Rampage] - Kill 3 infected in 2 seconds
[Jewel] - Eat a god apple

[Blacksmith] - Obtain a diamond sword
[Regenisist] - Heal 60 HP in one game, shop items do not count
[Omega] - Be the sole survivor in a game of 45+ infected

    Quest Rewards:
Easy - 100 Cookies & 10XP for every infected class you unlocked
Medium - 200 Cookies & 20XP for every infected class you unlocked
Hard - 350 Cookies & 35XP for every infected class you unlocked
Master - 500 Cookies & 50XP for every infected class you unlocked

Thanks for your time! Leave any suggestion/criticism in the comments

I get what you are going for and I like it but, these quests just feel so... situational.

Also what would the rewards be? A handful of cookies? Titles? Kits? Clout?

Your concept is more true than you know.
Currently, much of the infected experience system relies on mundane tasks instead of unique objectives.

I much preferred trying to rank up my kits in 2.0 instead of my survivor rank, and I feel some of that ambition is lost in this new system.

I feel as though the quests encourage gameplay that is not intended for mci. Quests such as don't hit infected or don't kill infected as human provoke gameplay that could ruin that game. The entire concept of mci is to defend yourself from the infected, but not hitting or killing them is just a bad time for everyone. That could especially mean if you have players around you and you aren't hitting infected which would get you and the people next to you killed.

There are only a couple of them like this, and that's not the problem. It will spice up the gameplay.

If by spice it up you mean create unnecessary salt because the players around you wont fight back then yea, this will spice it up.
